TO BE RECKONED WITH

Waking up from a bad dream
Was that the past life I lead
Who was to blame, so many
To let it continue mine

Starting anew
Seeing the world
Now in a different light
Through the eyes of many
So less fortunate than I had been

No longer holding onto the past
Embracing the essence of what is now
In the moment living
Finally accepting the amazing woman within

Learning to let others give too
By giving even more myself
Learning to receive as I have given
What a surprise to find so much joy
Even among times of pain in acceptance

Now a woman to be reckoned with
No longer accepting things as they are
Making them better than I found them
A goal to be surely the right one for myself

No other moment is more important
Than this one
Where change starts within
Spreads out into a world in chaos

Powerful we all are
Making a difference as we go on
With one smile at a time through a kind heart
Finding a purpose beyond ourselves
