A DISTANT BREEZE
A distant breeze blows my directionSomehow it finds its way here
A sun kissed wind envelopes me
Warm comfort sent from another place Floating embers along a stream
Illuminating only small pieces at a time
Not yet ready to see the whole body of water
So vast so large spread out in front of my eyes A child's voice calls out
From behind a closet door
After being so quiet for so long
Now she cries out, reaching out for tender arms
To hold her like she never has been before New light shines throughout this place
Where does she find herself now
An adult yearning to comfort the girl inside
Opening up to the future she has yet to begin
A new direction she follows along this distant wind Some will go some will stay
So many will never know the depth from within
For she has seen so much
She has hidden from view the complete painting
Now a new brush finds its way to her soft womanly hand She now paints a new picture
Of a life that is just beginning
Now the painter behind the brush
Flowing out forever more never to be held back again Can you see what she paints, embrace it for your own
Can you ever know the courage it took
Each stroke of the brush in pain
In freedom she continues for this is her painting now
A life's drawing upon a chosen canvass
