HOPE IS THE CONSTANT

Entering into this world
Without knowledge of it
Leaving it just the same way
Grandmother said to me one day

Wisdom of the ages
How often do we see the true worth
Of those who have lived so much longer
How often do we respect
All who came before us, their sacrifice

Yet through the fresh eyes of youth
We all can learn, old & young
Even those of us in the middle
Of our journey here on earth

All of us contribute to all that we see
We all can hope and live up to our best
Living with compassion for all
Listen, you might learn something

Do any of us know our fate for sure
Can we all learn to cherish the day
How do we live our life as an example
To be proud of our everyday kindness
For in the end will anything else of mattered

A new year is upon us now
Hope is the constant that balances
For we all look to the future
Hopefully learning from the past
